Playa Linda

Playa Linda is a beach located about 10 minutes drive north of the Ixtapa Marina area following Paseo de las Garzas past Playa Quieta and the Convention Center at the Melia Hotel at the northern end of what is known as Zona Hotelera II (the 2nd Hotel Zone) . Playa Linda pier used to be the embarcation point for water taxis to Isla Ixtapa; these currently depart from the pier at Playa Quieta and boat taxis can also be hired from Zihuatanejo’s municipal wharf.

The beach provides good swimming and other water sports facilities as well as several small and simple seafood restaurants and enramadas, and a large crafts market where visitors can browse and pick up all sorts of souvenirs and crafts.

On approaching the commercial area where the crafts market is located, there is a bridge that spans the outlet to a mangrove marsh. A walkway carries down toward the beach following a fenced estuary that serves as a nature preserve in which visitors can see crocodiles of all sizes piled up and sunning themselves on the shore or half-submerged in the murky water of the swamp, large turtles perched on logs, a variety of water fowl and other birds, and an extensive and fascinating colony of large and prehistoric-looking iguanas.

Playa Linda also has horseback riding stables offering trips along the beach and back trails. At the northern point of Playa Linda, continuing past the crafts market, there is a large trailer park with full hookups as well as a pool and tenting area located next to the river mouth which is one of the popular surf spots of the area.
