Diving Zihua Bay
Zihuatanejo Bay offers a number of dive and snorkeling sites with something for everyone, from beginners to advanced divers. Las Gatas (‘The Cats’ for the cat sharks that once lived here), protected from the waves by a man-made reef, is beautiful for snorkeling and watching turtles and other rare species. Just outside the reef a large Christ (El Rey de Reyes, or King of Kings) statue was sunk and can be explored both from by surface by snorkelers for by a shallow dive.
At Pango, the deepest site with Zihuatanejo Bay, you can observe rays courting in the winter months.
Fandango is a sunken boat broken in half, populated by a variety of invertebrates and seahorses. Please do not touch the boat’s structure and be careful of loose lines.
