Punta Garrobo and Rocas Bravo
Leaving Zihuatanejo Bay and following the coast to the east, you will find many dive sites close to the coastline. Start with El Faro, ‘The Lighthouse’, best known for it’s underwater walls. Caleta de Chon is a site protected from the Pacific surf and ideal for beginners as well as underwater photography with it’s natural beauty.
Continuing the route you encounter El Cactus with its rocky bottom where seahorses abound. More to the east you find Las Palmitas, covered in showy coral, El Bajo de Pargo and El Yunque, with its bottom of large horizontal rocks full of vegetation and schools of different fish species. We finish this route on Playa Manzanillo, where you can snorkel over the coral in the shallow waters. This spot is ideal for beginners and has an abundance of colorful tropical fish. In front of the lighthouse and farther from the coast, is the Piedra Solitaria or ‘Solitary rock’, which has it’s own Lighthouse. The widely differing depths around this island encompass the largest variety of undersea life.
