Surfing around Zihuatanejo

Surfing Zihuatanejo
Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo and Acapulco all have great surf spots for wave lovers; both beach breaks and point breaks abound along this area of the Pacific coast, and the Zihuatanejo to Troncones section of the coastline has in recent years become more and more popular for surfers wanting to take advantage of the good wave conditions, warm water and excellent surfing conditions in the area.
Ixtapa often hosts surfing tournaments and there are a number of surf shops and surfwear suppliers in both Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa. Surfing tours and lessons are available as well, for those wanting to experience the rush of a fast wave propelling them toward the shore.
Several surf camps and bungalow rentals have sprouted up in the area for those who like to rough it a bit, but Troncones beach and Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo themselves also offer a lot of good, comfortable vacation rentals and hotels where a surfer can bring his or her family for a good time and other fun activities without them feeling bored or abandoned.
There are many shops in the region that now cater to surfers, offering board shorts, rash guards, surfboards and board repair and rentals, wax, footwear, leashes and other surf wear and accessories
